McMurdo is a leading contributor in the design, development and deployment of the aviation industry’s next-generation emergency management system known as GADSS (Global Aeronautical Distress Safety System) and other emerging aviation/aerospace safety initiatives.
McMurdo is also driving various safety initiatives as part of the European Commission’s HELIOS project which is tasked with developing innovative, new solutions such as next-generation aircraft emergency beacons (ELTs) to enhance safety in our skies. McMurdo, as the HELIOS project coordinator, leads a consortium of well-established, proven European companies and industry experts including Air France, France’s government space agency CNES, Cobham Aerospace Communications and other companies with expertise in aircraft manufacturing, protective clothing design, aerospace and satellite communications, distress beacon development and search and rescue operations.
